MEAS GSA

Your GSA is excited to announce the 2010 MEAS Photo Contest! We're hoping to gather 13 photos for use in designing 2010 MEAS calendars to be distributed at modest cost to people interested in a unique and personalized gift item this holiday season. So submit your MEAS-related photos, whether it be a spectacular landscape or wildlife shot taken during your field season, a beautiful study location, an amazing microscopic picture, or any other aspect of your work. We're asking you to refrain from pictures of individuals as there is no possible way we could include the 100+ members of the department.

The deadline for submission is Sunday November 29th. After the winning pictures have been chosen by a panel of students, winners will be notified and the pictures posted on our website.

The calendars are expected to go on sale 2 December and distributed shortly thereafter, before the holiday season. The price of the calendars will be determined once we have put together the photos (we're anticipating in the $10-20 range). Please stay tuned to the website for more information. The next monthly meeting is scheduled for 19 November 2009 at 5pm. There will be many important items to discuss, including proposed amendments to the constitution. Please attend if you will be available!

Your GSA VP, Ashlee Lillis, put together a brief survey for you to fill out. At the September General meeting the GSA membership asked for a survey to be taken to clearly outline our goals in the coming year. This task was delegated to Ashlee in the October eBoard meeting. Your input into this survey is critical for your GSA to understand what we should prioritize.

It is very quick and should take less than 3 minutes of your time! Please fill it out by Friday afternoon, it will be used in the Friday general meeting in order to prioritize and outline our goals for the next year. Thanks!

This year's annual Porktoberfest was a huge success! Many thanks go out to Kevin Hill and several volunteers that contributed their time by cooking the food, providing supplies, lugging the refreshments, or with setup and cleanup. Pictures from the occasion will be posted soon, be sure to check back!

Welcome to the new GSA website. In an effort to maximize departmental cohesiveness, the GSA was commissioned with providing a new and improved webpage.

The new webpage features a calendar of upcoming events, a message board for GSA members to exchange ideas, and various links to other important webpages. This is a work-in-progress and several sections of the webpage are forthcoming, so please check back often! Likewise, if you have any ideas on how the GSA website could serve you better, always feel free to suggest them to your eBoard!

Please register to the Forum, future notices regarding MEAS Events (Happy Hours, Tailgates, etc.) will be discussed there in an effort to minimize email congestion. Events will also be posted to the Calendar when scheduled.
