Graduate Student Support Plan - A great webpage from The Graduate School with many useful links for students on the GSSP including a brochure about the program. A convenient pocket chart is also available for students on the GSSP.
Do you qualify for In-State tuition? -This link takes you to the Graduate Administrative Handbook with all sorts of information. Chapter 4 section 6 has all the information you need on establishing residency.
GSA Travel Fund - Need extra money to travel to a conference? The GSA reserves some funds to subsize graduate student participation at professional meetings. This site explains the eligibility requirements and provides an application form.
GSA Thesis Fund - Need money to copy your thesis/dissertation? The GSA Thesis Fund provides up to $40 to cover the cost of photocopying and binding. This site explains the eligibility requirements and provides an application form.
Guidelines Graduate Teaching Assistants - This is the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning website for graduate teaching assistants. They don't list guidelines but may have some useful information or links.

Graduate Study Rooms at DH Hill Library - NCSU graduate students have exclusive use of three study rooms on floors 3 through 5 of D.H. Hill Library. These include a fully networked computer lab on the third floor and two furnished rooms on floors four and five for quiet study. All the rooms are kept locked, but keys are available for check out at the Express Circulation Desk near the library entrance. You will need your ID to obtain a key.
Laptop Lending from NCSU Libraries - NCSU libraries have both Mac and PC laptops available for students to sign out for 4 hour time periods.
Registration to avoid FICA withholding on RA income - MEA Grad Students on RAs in the summer: If you wish to avoid FICA withholding on your RA income this summer (this does NOT apply to TA income), you can register this summer for 1 hr of MEA 696 (MS students) or 1 hr of MEA 896 (Ph.D students). The "course" is called Summer thesis(696) or dissertation(896) research. The tuition is $148 for NC residents or $248 for non-NC residents. Note for first year students: if you were not an NC resident when you entered you are still not one now (12 months residence required). Since FICA withholding is about 7 % of your gross earnings, you can compute whether this makes financial sense for you .
Full-time registration requirements for Fall and Spring - (from Jerry Janowitz 21 July 2003) All international and some US students with loans must maintain Full-Time registration status. The required registration information is below. Note that there is a separate but not conflicting schedule for receiving health insurance and tuition benefits under the GSSP.
- Master's - Registration for nine (9) or more credit hours per Fall or Spring semester or A minimum of three (3) hours per semester during the semester in which the student is completing the last course(s) required to complete the degree, or Three (3) hours per semester of XXX 699 (Master's Thesis Preparation) for students in thesis programs who have completed all other requirements for their degree, including research credits, except for completing and defending the thesis.
- Doctoral - Registration for nine (9) or more credit hours per Fall or Spring semester until the student completes all credit hour requirements for the degree, including research credits, and the oral preliminary examination, or Three (3) hours per semester of XXX 899 (Doctoral Dissertation Preparation) for students who have completed all requirements for their degree (including research credits and the oral preliminary examination) except for completing and defending the dissertation.
