TEACHING AND RESEARCH AREAS

A major professional focus is sedimentary petrology / petrography, especially as coarse terrigeneous strata provide information reflecting tectonic provenance and depositional conditions. His second major geologic interest is reconstruction of internal architecture and depositional environments associated with detrital sedimentary facies. These pursuits have developed an ongoing interest in coal geology, as well as a passable background concern with subsurface geologic wireline, data-base and mapping techniques.
